Good-bye Procrastination

When the adverse impacts of procrastination confront your life, a healthy attitude is to take a step by step approach: breaking down the task into stages so you would be able to grapple with the difficult issues. I recall reading a book years ago, It was called don’t "EAT THAT FROG". It introduces twenty-one great ways to stop procrastinating to be more effective. I don’t remember much about its methods but I remember one of them was about breaking tasks into sub-tasks and the other was making a list of all the important things that you want to do and all the goals that you want to achieve in 1-year time and then break it down to a mont, a week, and a day. In this way, you would know exactly what you need to do each day. And the frog was a metaphor for the most difficult work that you have to deal with in your day. Brian Tracy, the author of the book, recommends that you start your day by doing that work; you ate the frog and then you can do other less important tasks afterward. I’ve been trying to implicate this suggestion in my life but I wasn’t always capable of doing that. I’m guessing one of the biggest impediments for that was the fact that you can’t always be at the helm with everything going around in your life. There are certain situations in your life that you are not able to address the problem exactly, so you are not able to tackle it and it ends with procrastination and carrying some degree of risk. In my experience, if you want to minimize the risk of getting into this vicious circle of procrastination and blaming yourself, you need to first be honest with yourself and try to know what you want out of your life and then decide how you want to get there. I remember that Brian Tracy had a very thoughtful sentence in that book; "the biggest time killer is to do things so perfectly whereas there is even no need to do them". In the end my advice for you is to think twice before start doing anything in your life and ask yourself whether this is in the direction of your goals or not and if the answer is yes, so you plan to do it and if the answer is no, then you drop it immediately. Goodbye procrastination for all the best.
